Like tr4nut said if you get the longer OD cable it should arc through a hole in the frame and fit right at that point and fit nicely.

Good idea Poolboy, I often forget the obvious.
I do that too. I took the assembly back off and cannot see a problem. The only thing maybe is the little brass washer did let the lower assembly fit a little low, but I do not know if that matters,...
Thanks Randall makes good sense. I guess I do not know what really makes the assembly seal if not the gland washers. The ones I used were like a synthetic cork. I can never get those O rings to...
I hate these cars why do I work on them. I just rebuilt these SU carbs and the front carb has fuel dripping fast out of the lower jet assembly when I try and start the car. At first I thought it was...
Thanks Tush and Terry I purchased this car as a taken apart project without an inner front clip, so yeh I thought about it and fought it a lot. Seems to me after much trial and error, the fenders and...
Sorry for the post in pre-war “Freudian slip.” I ended up using a grinder with a green stone. It cut right through the paint and metal quickly with no problems the hood slid over. I did put some tape...
Thanks John for the complement you’re a good teacher. I learned a lot while you did your car and helped me with mine. Yeah the other Steve was able to move his hood in with some clamps, and I will...
I posted the problem I have will the hood before, but now I have bolted the fender to the apron and the fender and apron to the tub and lost another 3/16 1/8 of an inch on the gap and the hood rubs...
Well figured out how the water got in that door and caused the bottom of the door paint to blister. I had stripped this car down 20 years ago and I kinda remember those holes in the door jamb from a...

Yeah you should mail that out to me. It will help your Karma. Better to give. I saw an original sell on evilbay maybe 5 years ago, and I think for 1,100 bucks—but it was Like NOS nice and there...

I was not thinking of the vertical link. I was thinking about how they pin across in the front. Doesn’t TR4 use a bolt? Anyways, maybe the weight of the tub, fender, and hood do make a bigger...
I thought a little more about your suspension settling problem and think the problem is in the adjustment of trunnions or upper and lower A arms. I took a picture of a tr3 that is an all-weather...
Perhaps drive it around some and see if the system as whole does not self-align. I see what you mean with the gap on the shock base and the fixed rubber that mounts on the frame. Plus I see what you...
Never worked on a Spitfire cable, but I have moved some Saab cables around. You might try a cut off wheel on a high speed die grinder for the cut. There are usually brass end pieces that finish off...
Sure the cowling basically cantilevers out from the tub, so it is weak. The inner kick panel is the support for the cowling, so the arc stays the same. Taking off the outer sill IMHO will not let you...
Yeh that is a difficult one. How does the windshield bottom rubber fit the cowling? I have seen cars with a 3/8 inch under the cowling on one side where you could put your fingers under it. In that...
Wow I remember the Roth brothers from years ago; they actually had a junk yard of tr3 and tr2 and some tr4 open to the public.
Steve, did you use a band clamp with something under it? Or a large wood clamp, say 4 feet, and go from side to side with something on that to protect the paint?
The chrome beading is rubbing on the hood and I need to move it over about 3/16. My concern is if I file out the holes on the cowling how would I stop the paint from chipping so much it might show...
Yes the pump can be a pain, and those studs are small to get washers and that one clip for the oil line. Sounds like your studs are stripped? Or I would use the old ones. I do not see any reason to...
This car is a 20 year old restoration and kinda has a patina look to it, so when I found a couple of paint spots on the bottom door that were blistering with rust from neglect and the fact it rains...
Thanks you guys I learned a lot from reading the posts!
I like the left handed drill bits also. What you might try if things fail is a cone shaped dermel bit because all you really need is the cone off the end of the screw ground away and the frame will...
