Ever since owning the car since 2016 I’ve had a ‘dancing’ speedometer needle, I had that on my 3 Montegos back in the 1990s so I wasn’t really that worried but guessed one day I’d need to fix it.

1 week ago whilst driving for about 30 minutes at around 60mph (100kph) the needle went straight up about 120+mph and a screaming noise came from under the bonnet, I pulled over, stopped, then drove off again, the noise had stopped. I did it again a few times with the same results.

I have been wet-sanding the frame (sometimes called bird cage) on teh Etype. I took the bird cage off the car (4 pieces) and took to a local paint shop to have it stripped and primered, then I took the pieces back home where I am wet-sanding them myself. After I get them sanded I will take them back to get painted. (By sanding myself I'm saving a ton of money because it's such a tedious job)

Hello all! Due to a severe case of amnesia, I recently purchased a '60 TR3A))) now starts the process! It's not in bad shape, the car is from Provo Utah, there's still paint on the frame (I am from Michigan originally...no more rust to deal with)!! I'm about to start taking off the fenders for glass beading. I can't recall where all the bolts are but if I remember correctly, there is one which is much more difficult to get at. I am looking into getting two Triumph GT 6's one is a SCCA rated car and the other is a motor less parts car. Any thoughts. Madflyer
