Were the 4A wood dashboards a "Teak" veneer and if so where would I be able to buy the Teak veneer that was similar to the original?

KARL, I feel sure they were Walnut, mirror image. The net is full of places to get the veneer of your choice. I always thought burl was really nice .

Randy Keller in Santa Ana does great work. I hope he's still in business. He has made thousands of TR, MG and other dashes and does great work. https://www.prestigeautowood.com/triumph_gallery.htm

I thought the walnut ones were aftermarket replacements, but I don't recall where I heard that. Rimmer Bros has teak and walnut, and TRF has bookmatched mahogany. Did you get a choice of veneer when you ordered a car or did it maybe change over time?

I also believe that the walnut one are aftermarket (but nice). Constantines has been selling veneer for over 200 years https://www.constantines.com/

Seconded. He's still in business. Made me a great custom dash for my 4 last year. Quality work.

The period advertisements said "walnut veneer facia."

Don't own a tr6, I have a TR4 with a painted facia. Go to this page and use control ++ to enlarge the ads so you can read them. https://tr4a.weebly.com/triumph-tr4a-advertising.html Hope this link ok if not I will try to figure out how.

I made mine out of Birdseye maple myself. I made a template from the old one and used my CNC Router to cut it out exact. Any good Millwork shop can do it fairly cheap.

My 4A has the original wood dash, I believe it is Walnut but it is not book matched.

I recall reading somewhere that Triumph was on of the few marques that used rosewood. I also assume that was on the early cars. The later cars do seem to be walnut and often quite plain grain, nice enough if it is finished right and in keeping with the style of the period.
Not always easy to do. I've seen quite a few otherwise spectacular restorations of high end cars like Jags, Bentleys and Rolls with woodwork that looked like it came out of my high school shop class. There are fine lines between elegance, simplicity and pretentiousness.
