1971 MG Midget with Bugeye bonnet and fender flares, vintage motorcycles as bonus! (https://www.panjo.com/buy/1971-mg-midget-with-bugeye-bonnet-and-fender-flares-vintage-motorcycles-as-bonus-144381)

1971 MG Midget, with a Bugeye Sprite front end
Originally built as a stripped-down competitive autocross car in the Midwest in the Nineties. I consider it to be an automotive take of a cafe racer. It's straight, rust-free, great paint, and runs very, very well. Very agile, but not twitchy. Pulls hard, and stays cool. It's a riot to drive. I'm only selling because I already have another two-seat convertible to which I'm more attached, and I don't have the time, space, or energy to drive and maintain another.

I've enjoyed tinkering with and driving this car for a year, and there's a thread about this car on the Spridget subforum with more details. This car is definitely as fun as it looks, and way, way faster than the 1500 Spitfire I had in college (my only other reference for British roadsters). Someone is going to have a lot of fun with this happy little car!

Performance features and notable modifications:
1275cc engine
Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite steel front clip, folds forward, shaved fender seams
Roll bar
Mild performance head job, still takes leaded fuel
3 into 1 headers
Weber DCOE 45, tuned very well with a wideband 02 sensor
Original excellent condition dual SU carbs with manifold and heat shield included
Supplemental electric radiator fan, not needed (engine runs cool)
Rebuilt and firm performance suspension with urethane bushings
Fiberglass flares front and back
7x13 VTO alloys (Minilite replicas) with Toyo RA-1 205 section tires. These will fit the back, but not the front without additional ground clearance and camber, hence the slot mags with 175 tires in front
New rear wheel drums, wheel cylinders and shoes
New clutch slave and stainless braided hose
New clutch master and brake master cylinders, not yet installed
New upholstery, including door cards, cards not yet installed
New gas tank
Cut down plexiglass windshield (have stock windshield frame and new windshield)
Additional, shorter rear differential for autocross included
Additional rebuilt stock front brake calipers included
New braided stainless front brake hoses included
Vintage '70s Raid steering wheel
Collector license plate so it never needs renewal/fees

Weight savings:
Lightweight 50 amp alternator
Lightweight Odyssey gel battery
Deleted convertible top, but stock frame is included
Deleted door handles/locks, innards/glass
Deleted heater, but seats wired for heat (not yet connected)
Deleted bumpers

Known issues:
Unsure of the odometer mileage (did it roll over?)
Weak front brakes, fresh front calipers and master cylinder not yet installed
Stock 4 speed transmission, so no synchro on first gear
Minor oil and coolant leaks
Paint is beautiful, but worn around hood/body interface, chips here and there
Vacuum gauge disconnected (will work if plugged into SU carb manifold)
Frayed leather straps for hood and trunk lids
Turn signal switch does not self-cancel
No horn
No wiper motor
Steering wheel worn and slightly frayed
Needs lead additive (included) when refueling
Weber carb is awesome, responsive, but thirsty. The included dual SUs are more economical

This is a good-natured, happy car that gets A LOT of attention, makes everyone smile. It starts easily and runs strong, sounds great with a throaty growl. See sample videos below:

Accelerated smoothly, pulls hard without bogging, backfiring or flat spots:

And finally, if you buy this, I'll include a mid-Sixties Honda CB160 and mid-Seventies Honda Z50 Minitrail. Both are mostly complete and disassembled, but without titles. Just clearing out my storage space.

Asking $5000 for everything (including the spare parts and motorcycles!)
