I looked at a TR4 with HS6 SU's that has NO vents on either float bowl lid. Is that right? Kevin

The vents are well hidden, but they are there (and required). IIRC there is a small opening below where the fuel line attaches.

I don't see a typical SU vent orifice I've seen how MGB and Healey HS carbs are vented and this isn't it.

Well, I'm not familiar with the Healey & MG versions, so can't comment there. But the vent is required or the engine won't run properly, so I'm pretty sure the carbs you saw had vents. But since TR4s did not originally have HS6, there's no telling where they came from.

Here's a shot of a replacement HS6, which I believe is similar to the original TR4A setup

I don't see the vent on your pic either . Isn't that the fuel inlet?

Yes, it's the fuel inlet and also the vent. Click on the thumbnail and look closely, there is a shiny bulge below the inlet hose and a shadow where the bulge does not quite touch the cover. That's the vent.

That's interesting thanks. I had never seen that type of vent. The other HS type I've seen have a push on fitting. Thank you.
