Is it necessary to remove the windshield to replace the dash top on a TR4A?

I believe that is the drill. At least I had to remove the windshield on mine to accomplish the change.

Geo makes a good point. Frame and glass together. In hindsight, I should've ordered new glass. Mine is a bit pitted. Style, grain, etc. is personal, but here's what I did for the dash:

OOPS, I replaced my prior post. Man, I'm tech challenged. :rolleye:

Absolutely. And it's rewarding and fun...

That sounds suspiciously like 'what doesn't kill you makes you stronger'.

Indeed the clamping force of the windscreen is what is hold the dash in place more than any glue they used.

You will probably need a new lower windscreen seal before the job is done.

Just to be clear -- the windscreen can stay in the frame, the frame & glass get removed as a unit.

Wooden dash needs to come out as well. Then loosen 5 nuts that hold the metal metal underneath to drop it down enough to remove old vinyl and install the new vinyl.

Thanks for all the replies. I plan on replacing the wood fascia at the same time.
