When I got the car the dash was out so I'm not sure where the two ground wires with the eyelets shown in front of the heater go. The other end is connected to the screw on ground on the center panel.

On my '60, those went to the tach and speedo mounting studs, under the knurled nuts.

This^ Just a little daisy-chain to assure the lamps in those units have a good ground.

Yeah, wiring diagrams are useful much of the time but useless in figuring out where grounds attach.

I found mine attached to a sheet metal screw on the dashboard brace that attaches to the battery box (hence the larger than normal eye)

Thanks guys, the center panel will be installed today. Thanks Bruce I had copied Advanced wire diagram for the heater and OD some time back.

Speaking of grounds, if a PO hasn't already done so, run a dedicated ground wire from the center post of the
fuel gauge to one of the wing nuts that hold the facia to the dash. Saves lots of grief in the future. The factory depended on the fuel gauge mounting bracket to provide the ground but it is not dependable .

+1 on grounds for tach & speedo. IIRC the ground on the brace should be for the heater.

Yup. I also added grounds for the fuel sender, and all of the rear lamp fixtures.

Thanks 6TTR3 for the fuel sender ground advice (installed). Some time back I also added the tail light grounds. As for the fuel sender it came with a ground wire to the body.
