Stopped in at an estate sale today and got a big old stack of records for $10. Everything from Lawrence Welk to Dire Straits (OH YEA! Brothers In Arms!!!!)
Mostly 33 1/3 LPs. Many multi-record sets, and a decent little stack of 45s.
Has to be close to, if not more than 100 records in all.
My collection is getting pretty sizable. I need to catalog them soon, and digitize the good stuff.
I may have a bunch of Lawrence Welk records for sale really REALLY cheap... any takers? Bunch of Hawaiian music in there too.... ya got me.

Nice find... I scored a few vintage photos from an estate sale today, nothing as exciting as finding some old records - although I was quite thrilled, and on another note my vintage photo collection is starting to get rather large, particularly after a large album rescued from the recycling line at work a couple of weeks ago...

This sale was actually for a home owned by a sweet old lady that my wife used to work with. she's still alive and well, but can't handle the home anymore. Because of that we got to talk with the people running the sale a bit. they told us that they threw out the family photos because no one would buy them. from the way they talked, I believe that is a common theme in estate sales unless there are a lot of military photos or photos of historical significance. I should have got their info and made a deal with them as I know someone (Sherlock) who would like those.
They were happy I wanted the records too. they said they would have thrown those out as well if no one had bought them, and there was only an hour left in the sale.
I can see myself getting in trouble here......

I really don't need anymore old photos, I have too many!

One from the giant album that came through our sort line at work recently, the album has lots of excellent quality old photos...

And I think my favourite one...

But I think many families don't realize how much interest there is in old photos, whether loose or in an album, costume designers often get ideas from old photos, graphic designers also use old photos as a starting base, and of course collectors...
