Many of you (especially if you've had German cars), may be familiar with the blue-color boxes that Bosch products came in (for example, distributor caps, switches and so forth). These boxes had sort of a "graph-paper" look with the Bosch logo printed on them.
When I was at Lime Rock earlier this year, I saw a 356 that had been painted in this fashion...very clever!

The Germans do have a wonderful mischievous streak. I don't recall the exact story but I seem to remember that "Back in the day" some guys in the Porsche racing department decided to do an unauthorized custom paint job for a team's car. The customer was apparently not amused but the crowds loved it and they raced it.

The 917 endurance racer, known by some as the Pink Pig, was painted with a butcher's cut diagram of pork.

Not to leave out American endurance racers, back in the 80s Red Lobster Restaurants sponsored a team running this March 82G in IMSA.

That 917 is really clever....it reminds me of the original BMW 'art cars" I saw a few years ago.

Suddenly Lobster seems more intimidating than it did a few minutes ago. I actually kinda like the Bosch box paint job on the 356.
