Sure is a beauty. Not a bad track record they have had with her either, I wonder how the car preformed pre 99.

I think they'll have a hard time getting that type of money. TR4s are still very undervalued, and probably never will have the wide-appeal to gain huge multipliers on FIA cars. From the vintage racers' point of view, the TR4 is an "entry-level" car, and not at all prestigous. Which, I suppose is great, since it's the most likely car for me when I start vintage racing in about two years.

The TR4 wasn't a real stand-out FIA racer, but I'd still love to have that car...it would qualify for the Monterey Historics.

I agree. Price is way to high, but still looks like a nice, fast car.

"For that price, I sure hope the trunk is full of Ale!!" Heck for that price I'd hope the trunk was full of $40,000. Its still a rather nice little race car though.

You have to take into account that the car is in the UK, where Triumphs are actually more rare than here in the US, though. I would say it's worth more than $10k, but I definitly wouldn't buy it for more than about $23k.

The value is in its FIA papers. If this were not an original FIA-recognized TR4, the price would be no more than $20,000. In the world of collector race cars, you pay for "history." This specific car has a long racing history.

When you're talking Bugattis, Ferraris, pre-war Alfas and pre-war Mercedes, documented racing history and FIA papers can swing the value by -millions- of dollars.

Sam,

Very true words, but I would still need a good stiff scotch before I ever considered spending 50 grand on a TR4.
