I just did a compression test today and the results vary from 177-181. However these readings were obtained after 4 cranks. Each cylinder incremented by the same amount, 90, 120, 150 & 180. The instructions say that incremental compression and a low peak value indicates worn rings. Can anyone comment on my readings? Thanks.

Hello Slider,
was that done hot or cold?, however, I would say that the readings you get are good. My engine normally peaks at 150 psi, but takes about two cranks to reach peak. That is with
9.5:1 compression and TR5 cam.

Many commonly available compression gauges are rather inaccurate so the number you get is less important than the comparison of one cylinder to another... which in your case looks good.
