If anybody is running a TR6 fitted with a BP270 cam
from Brithish Parts Northwest and Zenith carbs, can you
tell me where your timing ended up?

Is this something that could be universal or could it be
different from car to car, depending upon how it was put

It would vary depending on other modifications, like compression ratio, exhaust, etc. as well as what year TR6 you started with. To really do it right, the timing curve should be adjusted as well, to match all the other variables.

All the components must work in concert; you can't just add a tuba to Beethoven's Fifth and expect an improvement.

I also use that cam. I agree with Randall, but can tell you this about mine.

I use the stock rockers with that cam.
I have 9.5 to 1 compression.
I have headers, with stock exhaust from the collector back.
I have triple ZS-CD tuned via air flow sensor built onto header collector.
I have a newly rebuilt and recurved distributor with Pertronix.
My base timing is 15BTDC at 1,000 RPM, no vacumm retard used at all. My total advance is 36 BTDC at 2,850RPM.
I use the highest octane gas available at the pumps, no additive other than Marvel Mystery Oil Gas Treatment every other tank full.

I started tuning it at 10BTDC and tweaked it up from there.
