I hope this isn't prohibited in this forum, but I have a new temperature gauge I bought when TRF had a run of them many years ago and I'm going to sell it, but I don't see a lot of them for sale. I'm trying to come up with a reserve price and I thought y'all might give me an idea.

Also, I have several accumulated parts I will be selling over the next couple weeks (hopefully) and I didn't notice many parts for sale here. Where do most of y'all look for and sell parts? E-bay seems a bit weak too.

You Could offer them up in the classifieds here on the B.C.F. there is both a buy and sell classification there.
As for the temp guage, Nossinger will repair one {Providing you have one that is suitable for repair} for aprox. $140.00 so I know it is at least worth that providing it is either a Smiths or Jager guage.
Others will chime in here shortly im sure.

Well, being that a gauge like that can be rebuilt so that they look and operate as new for about $140, that should give you an idea of their worth. The only time someone might pay more then that is if the car had a $20 Pep Boys unit in it, and the owner wanted an original and didn't have one to repair.

I think the classified section here is closed down at the moment. E-bay is probably your best bet. I've seen operating TR3 temp gauges go there for anywhere from $120-$200.

OK, thanks. I didn't know they could be rebuilt so cheaply.

The prices on E-bay vary so widely it's hard to gauge. For example, I saw a set of NOS tail lights gor for over $150 and then another set brings $50.

I've been out of it for so long I have to re-educate myself on prices and for the clips and screws and little springs it doesn't seem worth it.

(I was glad to see that)It sold for what I thought it was worth. Along with the $140.00 or so for a rebuild, you need a good core to supply the re-builder with. In order to find one with a pristine face, clear unscratched glass, an excellent chrome bezel and a good Bourden tube, you need to spend another $100-$150.00. I'm sure your buyer is happy since I'm sure they are impossible to find in the Netherlands!!

Thanks, I have what seems to be a lot of stuff I want to sell, but it's hard trying to find out what a fair price is since I have been away from it so long.

For example, I have several NOS Lucas things, like Voltage regulator, F&R Flashers, Fuse Box, Dip Switch, etc. and I don't know if that makes them worth more? I'm not trying to cheat anyone and don't think I have a gold mine, but I'm not selling at fire sale prices either. I've had the stuff this long, what the heck?

I have things I've had for years - An NOS wiring harness with the Cox & Buckles tag still attached, Rebuilt/Rebushed carbs,Used Carbs, Rocker Panels that are supposedly original B/L, Tilt Seats(no cushions), an original radio console (I know repros are available), engine, perfect frame, Transmission, just all the things you collect over years.

BTW, the guy who bought the gauge was a really nice guy. I don't know if he's a member here, but I'm going to mention it to him.

Well, I could use a lot of those parts, and I'm sure others on this board could too.

Bottom line, though, is I think you've found that ebay is a pretty good free market. If you go slow, your items will probably reach their value and then some. It isn't obvious immediately, but sometimes the small bits are worth more than the big bits. You might have trouble with getting rid of the frame and drivetrain for example - still worth money but you need to find a local buyer. Maybe try the Illinois Triumph club if you have problems?

If you don't want the hassle of ebay then start entertaining offers - I'd be happy to send you a private note with an offer on a few of those bits!

I would entertain any offers, but I might have to do some research before I can jump. That's just a partial list. I have a Speedo Cable, U-joint repair, overriders, painted wire wheels and adaptors, a couple heaters, a good dash, some (maybe complete) cockpit trim, motor and trans mounts, Body Pads, etc. If you are looking for something in particular, let me know.

Yeah, I know the frames and drivetrain will be a pain - not exactly UPSable. If you want any pics, let me know.

I just wanted to add that I took pics of some of the things I'm selling if anybody wants to look. Triumph Parts (https://photobucket.com/TriumphParts)

The door strikers are rechromed and look much better in person. They don't appear to be pitted.
