View Full Version : TR6 69 TR6 steering column help

Since my car is on blocks while I work on other issues, I decided to referbish my steering column. I have put in new bushings in the cowling, installed new felt pads, and put in a new flexible coupling. I should mention that before this my steering column vibrated and the steering wheel itself rubbed against the steering column cowling (I'm not sure why.) I have never seen the steering column put together with the correct spacing; it was apart when I bought it, so I need some help. Does anyone know: 1) How far out into the engine bay does the steering column tube extend? 2) Is there a way to adjust how close the steering wheel is to the cowling, and if so, what should the distance be? Any tips or pics would greatly be appreciated.

There is a stop that makes it self evident isn't there?

I thought I had a photo Kevin but can't find it.
