hi all, i am building a very hot mgb with a nissin sr20det engine (2L turbo in time wanting about 300 bhp)and wondering how you think the standard MG B diff will hold up, with bigger sticky tyres? i'm putting sebring rear flares on so wanna go rather big on the rubber. How big can you go on 15"'s?
Is there a good swap where LSD and disc brakes are avabiale? You help is much appreciated

The stock diff is pretty sturdy. You might want to just try it before doing anything else.
The rear drums are decent size and work well on these cars.

But if you want, a good alternate is a rear axle from a first-gen Mazda RX7. The Mazda will take plenty of power.
On an MGB, it might need to be narrowed a bit...not sure.

Here is a page showing a narrowed RX7 rear on a Sprite

It would help if you specified which MGB diff you have, banjo or Salisbury.

I'd say no for the former and conditional yes for the latter.

It takes a lot of work and money to get that engine up to that power output, but I guess you are aware of that.
