View Full Version : TR2/3/3A TR3 Oil Pressure Gauge

I took apart my oil pressure gauge awhile back for general clean-up, along with all the other gauges. I figured that I should check the accuracy of the gauge. I started up the air compressor and had the gauge rigged up to it through my air blower. Solid connection...no possibility of leaks. As the pressure built up, I noticed that the readings on the oil pressure gauge are lower then that of the compressor gauge, which I know is fairly accurate. At 60 psi on the compressor, I'm showing about 45 psi on the OP gauge. Can this be adjusted and what is the procedure??

OK, I got it figured out and pretty much repaired. There is a wire size arm coming off the end of the bourdon tube that activates a lever that is attached to the indicating needle. That lever and needle has a spring on it which returns it to the zero peg position. I tweeked the wire arm from the bourdon tube so that the spring JUST returned the indicator to the zero position against the peg. When I retested, I was within five pounds of what the compressor gauge read pretty much along the scale of the gauge...up to about 90 psi.

This is certainly close enough for me. :yesnod:
