See this thread (https://www.britishcarforum.com/bcforum/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/370195/), if you want, for a discussion of getting the dang pitman arm off the box.

The upshot of this was that Tinkerman sent me a wonderful pitman arm puller -- for the price of postage -- which has done its work beautifully. The next person contemplating a steering box rebuild should contact me and the "BCF Pitman Arm Puller" will continue its journey around the world helping us rebuild our steering boxes.

Another related item: TR3driver related the story of how, when the pitman arm finally let go, it flew dangerously around his garage. To prevent this, remove the nut and tab washer from the assembly, then REPLACE the nut on the rocker arm -- loosely. Screw it down to within 1/8" of where it would make contact with the pitman arm. Then, when your pitman arm comes loose with a violent bang, as mine did too, the nut will keep things from flying away from the bench.
