I need to replace the rear brake cylinders on my TR3A. One blew out, but I figure I should do both at the same time. I ordered new flat piston brake cylinders, but my car has the slotted pistons. Both are .75 and use the same brake shoes. My question is can I just fit the flat piston cylinders in there place, or do I need to use the slotted piston type.

IMO, it depends on the vintage of your brakes. If you have the 10" brakes with the steady posts, instead of hold-down pins & springs; then I believe the slots are important. Otherwise, the flat pistons should work fine.

Another option might be to use your old pistons with new seals & the new housings (assuming you are buying .75" cylinders).
