Greetings All graemlins/savewave.gif ,
This is a heads up that the year 2005 is the 35th anniversary of the introduction of the Triumph Stag to the world market graemlins/thumbsup.gif . This milestone will be celebrated at the 2005 VTR National Convention by the Triumph Stag Club USA along with over 200 TSC USA club members (as of December 2003) in North America. The 2005 VTR National Convention will be held in Rockford Illinois on a date to be determined by the host club (to be anounced). TSC USA hopes to be a sponsoring club to this event.
There will be special events at the convention coordinated just for Stag Enthusiasts such as A Herd of Stags drive, A Herd of Stags BBQ/Dinner, A Herd of Stags photo shoot, A Herd of Stags thunder, etc. Note the operative word for inclusion is "enthusiasts".
To make this event very special, the TSC USA is calling on all Stag owners in North America and those willing to make the journey from abroad to assemble en masse at the 2005 National Convention in Rockford Illinois for the largest gathering of Stags ever in North America. Our goal: over 100 Stags.
This gives Stag owners almost 18 months to get their Stags roadworthy for the trip whether it be onto the trailer, graemlins/driving.gif cross graemlins/canpatriot.gif country, or graemlins/england.gif cross the pond.
Anyone wishing to convoy to the 2005 VTR National Convention should begin planning with other Stag Enthusiasts in your area and those living along your proposed routes.
For questions, contact me at your convenience. I look forward to seeing a herd of 100 Stags or more in 2005 at the VTR National Convention in Rockford Illinois. graemlins/cheers.gif graemlins/patriot.gif

You should make a pitch to Adrian Planterose to bring over his factory four wheel drive Stag. You might have to pay his way to get his one of a kind car here. Bob

I have seen Adrian's Stag, crawled under it, sat in it at Gaydon in '98. It is indeed a Stag design that is always on my mind, the thought of having an AWD V8 Stag is the stuff dreams are made of.
His and one other are so unique the parts are one off custom, so if anything breaks outside the normal Stag bits, it is make it from scratch.

I think I will stick to passing the pictures around of his car, paying for round trip from the UK is about $2000 plus other expenses. Too steep for our club!

So know of other Stag owners willing to make the trip?

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gifI'm not sure what Unky Sam has in store for me yet this summer. If I have the time I'll go. I'd even have room on my trailer for someone who's intrested in sharing costs! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Any Triumph owners traveling to VTR2005 from the west, South West, North West, through or past Colorado, or in the path of traveling to Rockford Illinois from all points west, please contact me with your caravaning information. Nothing better than having several dozen Triumphs all in a line going to the same event and arriving en masse!

Nice to see some folks coming from different areas. how about some posts like:

Planned Routes and travel dates with proposed stopover towns. This way folks can gather at stopover points and travel together in groups.

Think about 40-50 Triumphs or more all in a line traveling up to Rockford. That is an attention getter!!

Our plans right now are:
Depart Lafayette (Denver area) 23 July, generally travel East or North east I-76 to I-80 towards Omaha, or HWY 34 or HWY 36 east. Plans will change as other folks make their general plans knows and wish to meet at certain stop overs.

The wife and I will be leaving Clarksville on Monday, the 25th, driving direct to Rockford. We'll be trailering the TR3 (I know - we're wimps!), and looks like drive time is about 9 hours.

This is most likely our route:

Rockford Route (https://www.mapquest.com/directions/main.adp?go=1&do=nw&rmm=1&un=m&cl=EN&ct=NA&rsres=1 &1ahXX=&1y=US&1a=&1c=Clarksville&1s=TN&1z=&2ahXX=& 2y=US&2a=&2c=Rockford+&2s=IL&2z=)

Hi gang,
Michael Coffey will be heading a caravan from north east Pennsylvania to Rockford. Here is the initial plan:

DIRECTIONS: STAG CONVOY HEADING WEST FROM PENNSYLVANIA. Initial plan is to meet at 0800 hrs on Monday July 25, 2005, where I81 south merges on to I80 west. Pull over on to the shoulder just after you get on I80 west and we will depart from that point. We will motor to Cincinnati, OH on day one. Stay at a hotel to be determined, there and continue on to Rockford, IL on Tuesday. Any member that plans to be in this group should contact me no later than July 15 and we will finalize plans at that time. Please do a thorough maintenance on your Stag; bring the usual “parts” that may be needed and we will have a great trip. Return trip will be on July 30 & 31, 2005. All contact data for me is on the inside front cover of this July Stagnews. See you there !

Michael Coffey is the VTR Consultant - Stag, so locate him on the VTR Web site for contact information, or email at StagClub@epix.net

Cheers!

Triumph Enthusaists:

(subject to change as input comes in, suggestions please. If we get no other caravaners, we may depart Sunday morning and make it a two day trip)
Sue and I will be departing Lafayette Colorado Sunday 24 July about 9:00 am, driving north east on I-76. Our plan is at least two days, but we will be open to leave earlier for a three day trip.
Our first rendevous point will be at approximately 9:30 am the departure day on the on ramp to I-76 from Colorado HWY 2 where we will wait for confirmed caravan people until 10:00 am. We will depart at 10:00 am sharp on I-76 east. (possible diversion, HWY 34 East through Kansas but secondary road travel may require leaving Saturday)
At approximately 12:00 noon on the initial departure day we will stop at the intersection of I-76 and I-80 on the east bound side to wait for any confirmed caravaners coming from I-80 western states.

Generally, destination for that evening is Omaha Nebraska for our stopover, about 545 miles for us. Pioneer Villiage Nebraska south of I-80 is a potential sight see adds 50 miles and at least 4 hours, so this is a possible stop over location for Saturday night) Hotel TBD

From Pioneer Villiage Nebraska, or Omaha, Rockford is only about 400 miles. This can be split and sight see half way, or drive straight through. Our reservations start Monday evening, 25 July in Rockford.

We will rendevous with other groups coming north on I-29, I-35, I-74 / I-39 if you post your plans.

See you en route or at Rockford!!

Return caravnas will be arranged at Rockford over many many pints.

Cheers!

What a fine trip you have planned. Pioneer Village (Nebraska's #1 destination) is in fact worth a look as Chicago plastics king Harold Warp seemed to spend much of the 50s buying up old cars and parking them in big buildings in his home town. Not restored examples -- just mass quantities of nice used cars.

Cars? Ford exhibit, Chevy Exhibit, airplanes (don't look at eye level, look in above you too!!), tractor exhibit, boat exhibit, motorcycle building exhibit , bicycles, antiques of all sorts, full size and model trains, sets of typical furnature styles and mans progress, textiles, plastics, machinery, electronics, musical instruments, how-to in the old style, steam engines, a restored old time country square under the cottonwood trees with all sorts of building types, with ice cream and burger stand, Olde Tyme deomostrations, steam powered rides, on and on and on. To do it right, you need two days and a dozen 1 gig photo cards for your digital camera. There is a hotel and resturaunt there on the grounds and also more in town. This all sits on about 80 acres with many buildings filled to the walls and rafters. Sort of a historical record set up for learning and exhibit

Okay, it looks like a two day drive so departure is Sunday 24th July about 9:00 am, up I-76 East to I-80 West about noon, into Omaha NE. No Pioneer Village stop i guess. Stay the night at the Country Inn Suites at I-80 & Hwy 50 at exit 440. Supper in Omaha.
Depart Monday morning after Cracker Barrel breakfast, with another Stag - trailer queen - to Moline area, take I-88 north to exit towared Grand Detour on Illinois State Hwy 2 following the Rock River into Rockford. I expect that supper will be somewhere along Hwy 2.

Arrive Rockford Monday evening 25 July.

See you along the way or in Rockford!!

Well, the show has come and gone, and for those who missed it, do try to make one in the future. We had a great time, and hats off to the Illinois Sports Owners Association for a job well done.

The weather was fantastic, and the events were first rate. We also heard from the Spinal Tappets - what a hoot! Just wish they could take their act on the road.

Good to meet a few of the Forum crowd in person, and I look forward to catching up with you again.

Yes, quite the Staggering event. Final count for registered and appearing Stags - 37. Stags arrived from all over North America, Canada to Texas, Florida to Mass, California and many other points. This was the highest number of Stags to appear anywhere in North America since being imported. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
Stags were the 2nd highest numbers with only TR6 appearing in higher numbers, and then only by about 12. HA! How many tens of thousands of TR6's and other individual Triumph models arrived in the us compared to 2781 Stags??

There were final count of 210 Triumphs at VTR, not a large turnout but not bad either. ISOA put on a nice event for all. Everywhere you looked there were Stags, Stag enthusiasts (wearing antlers), and Stag activities (Stagtivities) including a "Ride the Stag" event held at the Rockford Speedway.

Our club was represented by 65 people at our 3rd annual general meeting - supper - social with 30 Stags in the Thunder Bay Grill parking lot.

Have a look at these fine cars at
https://brooksroy.com/photos/index.php?cat=16
with over 300 photos.

Next event, Triumphest 2005 in San Diego. Unfortunately I have a personal committment on the opposite coast that week /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
which really disapoints me. San Diego and the Shelter Pointe Resort is quite the beautiful venue, and the local Triumph club does a great job hosting Triumphest. Don't miss this great event ... BE THERE!!!

Cheers!
