My friends and I just went to the EMRA awards dinner for the 2006 season and we came away pretty happy.

I won the EMRA Enduro championship for small bore cars in 2006 (EMRA's small bore class is called "ST-7" and it is sort of similar to the SCCA "ITC" or "ITD" class). I drove my car solo in five of the 2006 enduros and then shared Pete's ~'62 1275 CAR~ (https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v170/aeronca65t/EMRA_06/mccabe-summit06-pitstop.jpg) for the 4-Hour Twilight event.

This means that in "EMRA-speak", I am part of a "team" and, in fact, I am the Team Captain. So both Pete and both get trophies (our team name is "MC-Squared" since he is McCarthy and I'm McCabe.....dumb, I know...).

My name also appears on ~The Main EMRA Webpage~ (https://www.emraracing.org/) .....fame at last!

Even better is our pal Bruce, who drives a ~NICE 1275 Mini~ (https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v170/aeronca65t/EMRA_06/mini-trailer-shen06.jpg) .

Every year at the Awards event, we give away a free season of races as a door prize. Since each event entry is roughly $220 and there are about 10 weekends, this is worth well over $2000 to the winner. Bruce won and he was delighted. I am too, since he *almost* won the small bore sprint championship in 2006, but skipped some events due to cost. He'll make every 2007 event now, which will be great (and I'm also hoping to drag him to some VRG vintage events as well).

I was also part of a club award. EMRA is an association of clubs and I am a "Scuderia-X" member.
~FOUR OF US~ (https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v170/aeronca65t/EMRA_06/van-cup-2006.jpg) Scuderia-X guys got the 2006 Vanderbilt Cup award for being the club that won most enduros. I ended up taking this Cup award home a few years ago and it sat in our fireplace the entire year. So this year I made one of the other guys babysit it for a year.

By the way, EMRA owns the term "Vanderbilt Cup". Some of you who follow the CART race series may have noticed that CART awards a Vanderbilt Cup too. They lease the term from us.

Pete and I getting our "bowling trophies"

A happy Bruce after winning a free race season:
