View Full Version : TR6 TR6 distributor removal - tips on tach drive Cable

I'm sending Jeff my TR6 distributors for rebuilding and I'm have a bit of trouble getting the tach drive out.

I left my manual at a friends (sorry), is it gently tapped out once the rear plug/cover is removed.

Any tips?

Why not send the whole unit in, tach gear and all. That is a plastic worm gear as I remember. Or not. Whatever, why remove the tach drive if someone is gonna overhaul the whole thing? Just curious. When I had mine redone they had to source a new tach drive gear, mine was pretty gnarlly.

Send the whole unit to Jeff. He will rebuild
everything and you will be very happy with
the results.

Jeff is professional, fast and reliable.
Well worth the few $$ he charges. He did mine in
early Nov and my dead car started almost immediately.

The TR6 died again of other causes but the
dizzy is superb.

I was planning on sending everything along but the cable is stuck. The dizzy body is free but the tach drive cable is stuck. Sorry for not describing my problem better.

Does the cable simply pull out of the drive without requiring any disassembly?

I didn't want to really yank on the cable until I double checked how to remove it properly.

Bill, I think the TR6 must have read your response since I went down to the garage all it took was a firm tug.
