Hey all,

Even the smallest Triumphs seem to be appreciating nicely!

Wow, and if you look at the bid history, it appears that dinkynewcommer really wants it and isn't the highest bidder.

I think it may break triple digits.

And I thought this was going to be a link to a Spitfire auction! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

These Dinkys can bring some pretty good money. I'm no expert, but I do know that not only the condition of the car but the presence of an excellent box add greatly to the value.

Some of these Dinkys didn't even come in "single" boxes but rather in "trade boxes" with several (six?) models to a box. But I'm not sure if the blue variant ever came that way.

If you think this is bad, you should the the prices on some variants of the Dinky Herald. There are two common versions: blue/white and green/white. But there were also limited numbers in other "factory" colors available only through Triumph dealers in England. Some of the rarest colors can bring four-figure prices (in either dollars or pounds)! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

Toy collectors are as fanatic as those in our hobby... but need less garage space.

I've got a hundred or so little TRs -- mostly TR3s -- of all shapes and sizes. Fortunately most came from flea markets and low-end antique malls.

A friend once saw me detailing my TR3A with an artist's brush -- he said 'That's not really a car, it's just a Revell model in 1:1 scale'. Maybe it's all one hobby.

It may be all one hobby, but I know model car collecting can be very addictive. I had only a few diecast models for the longest time. Then, I found ebay...

Jim -- Great site, especially liked the TV commercials. I would really enjoy seeing the TR4 TV commercial that was shot in my neighborhood -- but have only seen stills from the shoot.
