How do you remove the waterpump pulley on a TR4 from the water pump? My manual mentions a special tool. Is there a way to remove the pulley without this tool?

You might have a couple options. A. You can smash it off with hammer and go out and purchase a new pulley. B. You can try a gear puller with more than two paws to gently see if it will move. C. Heat the waterpump shaft and cool it. Expansion/contraction will often break the part free, then try the puller again. If these ideas do not work, try some body else's idea or refer back to A.

Here is the tool I made for pulling the pulley off TR3 & 4 pumps. Works easy and smooth w/o mashing the radiator:

Knocks down to no space at all so I carry it with me on long trips (since I also carry a pump on those drives).

Those are 3/8" bolts. Let me know if you want specifics (bolt lengths etc).
