I worked for the Molins Machine company for nearly 40 years traveling the world installing machines.

During WW11 they developed/modified an anti tank gun to be fitted in the De Havilland Mosquito. It is only since the advent of you tube that I have seen the gun.

Magnificent aircraft! Thanks for sharing that, I wasn't aware that such a weapon was fitted to the Mosquito. Devastating!

The Mosquito was used in just about every role in the air campaign.

Close up of the gun.

I had no idea that anyone had ever fitted a cannon of this size to a Mosquito. I did, however, know about the B-25 fitted with a 75mm:

There is a book on the TSETSE installation "A Most Secret Squadron" by Des Curtis.

Wondering what effect that cannon had on the wooden airframe after a while? Had to be punishing.

Even the "recoilless" large bore weapons like the 105 on a Spectre slews the tail starboard a bit so the computer has to compensate and bring it back to position. The GAU-8A in the Warthog causes a slight decrease in airspeed/altitude.
