View Full Version : TR6 Rear Bumper removal 1970 TR6

Disassembling my car and the front bumper came off in a snap. How does the rear bumper come off? All 4 bolts keep turning and don't come out. Doesn't feel like there is a nut behind that is turning with the bolt. Nor is there enough room to get a wrench in there and surly not with a hand.

Here’s a post from back in the day, maybe it’ll help.
I’m afraid some of the pics are missing...

Got, the two nuts for the back section are knurled pressed fit. Once they start turning you'll have to get a wrench in there or just cut the head off the bolt. The two side pieces have a captive square nut in a cage behind that bracket. Once 'they' start turning, you will have too get creative.
Sorry that the best I can do....
That's Rust-Oleum Hammered paint I used to cover the backside after I had them chromed.

OK now I understand the previous post about forcing a screw driver to wedge the nut to get the bolt to turn. I think before I go through all that effort I'll just cut the head off.
