View Full Version : So... How's your weather this summer?

Ahem... Here in Calgary this year it's been wet and stormy almost daily... It's wrecked tons of car shows and cruise nights, and other outdoor events... I've only been to one good car show or cruise night and it's already late July! And it's not for a lack of trying... That leaves only about eight weeks left for classic car events in our climate

Yes, I'm getting very frustrated this summer, even our annual Calgary Stampede had a huge dip in attendance and activity because it rained every day of the event, miserable and dreary... :blue:

miserable and dreary

Pretty much sums up the UK this year.

Hot and dry! Last two weeks it's been in the high 90s and 100s. Heat index much higher. In the Spring we had rain, rain, rain, now it's just the opposite, but in Oklahoma, you except that. PJ

Pretty standard weather here in New Mexico. Hot and dry, but not unusually hot for the desert. Have been getting some days with rain, but nothing out of the ordinary. We are just coming into what we call monsoon season so afternoon thunderstorms are becoming more common.

Hot and drought here - no ambition to take the car out when it is in the very high 80's low 90's even in the evening. :/

80s low 90s? That's a pleasant day in New Mexico LOL. The place I had to most trouble with was San Antonio, TX during Officer Training. Not only very hot but made worse by very high humidity.

80s and 90s with sometimes rain and sometimes not in SW Oho. The killer has been the 60% and above humidity so much of the summer. Makes getting things done outside difficult since all you need to do is move around and you're drenched.

Nice (though hot today).

Unusually hot and dry here in northeast Connecticut. We've had maybe a quarter inch of rain in the last 30 days, and we're about a foot below normal precip; hoping for a storm tomorrow.

The drought is all my fault. After 20 years of dealing with a soggy wet back yard, I put in "bog plants" back in May.

So now I carry five gallon Home Depot buckets full of water every few days, to keep my former swamp from shriveling to dust. Grass crunches as I walk. ugh

Hot, humid, but with relatively little rain in Maryland. At least until today's storms triggered flash flood warnings. Been getting some decent evenings to work on Baby Blue without completely sweating through.

Almost every day, right now actually, there is an early evening thunder storm/rain storm of some sort... Which effectively kills the weekly cruise nights, because most car owners are hesitant to go out for the evening... There have also been lots of car shows effected by our rainy weather... Plus other local events as well, just not a good summer!

Even on a slow night for cruise night, maybe 25 cars at most, there are still possibilities for a good photo opportunity if one pays attention enough... This photo taken last night...

Here in SW CT, hot and dry with an occasional T-storm with a downpour late in the day, just like Florida, but the day after, it's dry again. It poured the other night for about a half hour but the next morning, I played golf and the course was dry and fast.

Fire has been in our forecast for the last week. This evening 38,346 acres have been burned in Santa Clarita.

Over 100 pretty consistently here. Usually, we would have 3 days of hot, then cool off; now it's just hot. And dry, but it's always dry until October. A bit smoky from the fire south of Carmel.

Wife and I may take a trip to SD this fall for fun.

Went to the SD Zoo on Monday. Expected it to be the usual sunny and warm. On the drive down it was overcast and we actually got some light sprinkles of rain on the windshield as we got near Balboa Park.

Ended up being humid and sunny the rest of the day. Ideal conditions for the big cats to lie around sleeping.

Around here it has been fine 70's to upper 90's. Some storms but predicted well. Have been able to fish at least one day a week/we fish offshore for tuna off New Jersey and our trips take 3-4 hrs to get to the fertile waters. Has been good as we get at least one tuna in excess of 60 lbs per trip. Yesterday we had a 14ft hammerhead shark as excitement. As the day wore on we had to leave early as thunder/lightning storms were over Ocean City MD, about 30 miles from us so we beat it home/58 miles at 24 kts.

This coming week will be in the 90s and 100s. As long as the humidity stays down,, it's not to bad. I still have a lot of trees to cut up from the storm, but that will happen when it cools down a bit, too stinkin hot to be out there running a chain saw. PJ

probably sell it when/if it's done.

Here in SW Oklahoma we have had a pretty mild summer, I think 103 has been the hottest day we've had this week. It has been a bit humid though.

After visiting your fair country and experiencing the cool, wet weather, I was glad to get back home to normal summer...

...but I imagine I'll tire of that pretty soon and be ready for fall!

But, here in the low 30s C and with the humidity in the low 40's today - there is a cruise night tonight and I am not sure I have energy to go in that heat and humidity
