Howdy and welcome!
There seem to be a few of us oddballs, The white bumpers were stock, Look into a Vitesse/Sports 6 bumper capping, I dont know if they are a dirrect bold up or not? Also have a look at some goodies on the following sites...
https://www.canleyclassics.com/ Canleys has all sorts on lightweight goodies, But they are in England so shipping is $$$
Andy is on this board too, He has all sorts of great info.
Have fun, Welcome again!

Hi, Jack! Welcome to Heraldry. ;-)

I'd love to hear more about your Heralds: commission, engine and body numbers, paint/trim codes or colors, etc., etc., for my Database.

Take a look at that page (URL in a previous reply and even though it's long overdue for updating, which will happen once my home computer gets a bit more straightened out), and you'll see that there are quite a few Heralds in the US and North America, and a fair number of those are in regular use...especially mine.

OK, just ONE of mine (I've got around 9-10 of them)! :-)

I've loved these cars since I was 10.5 years old and dad bought a new 1200 convertible in January 1964 (that car is still stored awaiting eventual restoration). I picked up my latest one ('62 1200 sedan) three years ago and haven't stopped enjoying it yet. Bought it from folks who'd driven the 50,000 original miles car less than 700 miles in 13 years of ownership. Two weeks after I bought it, I drove it from NY to MN and back, for a round trip of 2550 miles.

Upgrades: so far, I've added 175/70SR13 tires on slightly wider early GT6 steel wheels (4.5")...and an oil pressure gauge (mostly because I found a complete gauge setup in a GT6+ parts car I just got). That's it. Otherwise, I've still got the single Solex on the 1147, and drum brakes all around...and I've no real complaints even in today's traffic. And the trip to MN and back was on the Interstates, where I could safely maintain around 65 mph with no worries.

Possibly the best thing you can do with the rubber bumpers is to replace them with new (around $200 or so from the UK, plus shipping) if they're really bad. Meanwhile, you'll yell at yourself the next time you get "white chalk" all over your dark slacks, but you'll be happy those bumpers are there the next time someone accidentally nudges the car...and no damage results! Vitesse / Sports 6 anodized bumper cappings are nice if you can find a good set, but they scratch and dent far more easily.

I don't get back to this forum as often as I'd like, but I'm here if you have ANY Herald-related questions.
