That's a Rara Avis, indeed.

I've seen a couple of the Singer-engined ones back in the early days of SCCA racing (early '50's), but I don't think any of the "aerodynamic" Hurgs ever made it to the U.S.

It was in the States a few years ago. In Portland. It is not the aerodynamic model. Its a 56 with disc brakes developed from helicopters as was the Cooper MKV and porsche SRS's of the time

What a great car! HRGs are a favorite in my family. For some reason, they have been quite popular here in the Pacific Northwest.

I have seen an HRG twin cam like yours at the Portland OR ABFM.

One of the most beautiful and desirable cars I have seen.

You did see my car in Oregon, It was there till last year. It ran at the historic GP in 1975 at Watkins Glen.

My father-in-law, who lives 32 miles away, is building another garage for his cars, so it will allow me space for one or two cars -- at least during the winter. One of these days I'll just find somewhere close where I can stash cars that are in various states of repair. (Usually one or two.)

As I recall, it had a woman owner, someone who is very active in the local Jaguar club, right?

Great car. As I recall, she said it was a Vauxhall block with HRG head.

Hi Super 7. I bought it from nice guy who was involved with the jaguar club but never spoke to a lady and no ladies name was on the logbook. The head is alloy HRG and the block was originally designed by Singer.

Couldn't send any pictures of Aintree as too big and cannot make smaller but a few on www.motorsnippets.com
When my second half gets back she will put the 80 or so that was taken at Aintree on my own webpage. By the way the Statue of the horse is Red Rum the most famous Grand National winner.
