Hi, just new to the forum. Steve from Hampshire in the UK. Learned to drive back in the 70's when most stuff on the road was built in the 60's. Started with minis so got used to tinkering with the A series from an early age. Then came work, family and Fords for many years and old cars got forgoten. My daughter for some reason wanted a 'classic' mini for her first car and when it failed it's MoT test (do you have them in the US?) I had to borrow a welder and re-learn the art of putting floors back in and fitting new sub frames. Strangely I liked it. Started looking to get a mini of my own but was surprised at the prices, then it dawned on me that I could actually buy a little sports car for less. So I went on Ebay and bought me an MG Midget. That was a couple of years ago now and 'Bridget' has gradually been brought up to scratch but has never been 'off the road' as I am sure thats how many cars die! Now active with the MG owners club, spending time on forums like this and looking to sneak in an MGB as well when my wife is distracted. Look forward to meeting some of you guys on line.

Welcome, Steve. No we do not have MOT's. Most states have smog tests and/or safety tests, but they do not compare to the UK standard. An MGB would be a nice addition to your growing group of motors. How about a tasty TVR Vixen?
Cheers,
D.

Steve!! This is the other stevefav laugh

Glad to see you here. I have had a succession of MGBs, started with a 105E Anglia, then went to a Saab, then a Mini, Spitfire, very similar to you in many ways wink

I rather wish that there was something akin to an MOT over here, people tend to let the cars go to pot rather than maintain them, resulting in a scarcity of decent used cars.
