No thanks, if the exhaust all smells like the Mercedes diesel car we followed for a couple of miles in the TR this morning. The smell made us feel ill; it was like following a "greasy spoon" cafe on wheels. We had to pull over and let it get away from us.

Other than that, it was a great morning for a top down drive; might be one of the last this year.

Wait till you follow one that gets thier "fuel" at the local fish fry or Chineese buffet... I worked on several of them while in Ithaca NY.. most of 'em stink on the inside too.

Think I'd have to shoot something if I was following a rolling Chinese buffet!

Wasn't somebody here experimenting with it in an old Volvo?

We have a lot of french fry cars around here, mostly old Mercedes. They belch out disgusting burned french fry smells. I hate it as much as actual diesel fumes and always make an attempt to get ahead of them.

I suspect that was me... I have an old Peugeot that I played around with using vegetable oil. I found that mixes of up to 50% were very useable, but more than that affected cold weather starting too much; and given Scotland's weather that was a major draw back.

With the decline in oil prices it's not really economic anyome, if retail prices have to be paid for vegetable oil.

Using new oil rather than re-cycled is actually quite pleasant- rather than the chip-shop stink it smells of flowers a bit.

If oil prices go back up, and if global warming makes Scotland more Southern Californian in temperature, maybe I'll re-start using it....

I discovered the same thing when I looked into running my Nissan on veggie oil.

I dunno - a little extra garlic and oregano might be just the thing!
