Wow, what a difference one little click can make.
I thought the brakes on the Bugeye were great. New front discs
and new rear drums had been installed when I bought it last year. I had a bit of a panic stop last week. You'd think road
work crews would have a guy at the entrance to a blind corner and not AFTER the corner. Much squealing tires and rapid downshifting from about 60 mph got me stopped in time. The look
on the flag guys was priceless as they scattered.

Anyway while waiting on an all clear to proceed I just set the emergency brake. I noticed when I went to release the hand brake that the pedal was higher with the hand brake on. Hmmmmm
I checked the rear drum shoe adjustment today. No drag.
One click on the adjuster and I got very slight drag.
Holy cow, the test drive reveals significant increase in stopping power and pedal height is increased.
It was so easy to do it was amazing. Heck with the Minilites
I didn't even have to remove the wheels. Jack the rear end up and pop the adjuster plug, shine the torch to find the adjuster and stick a screw driver in there. One click clockwise, spin the wheel, replace the plug (hardest part) drop the jack and you are done.

Woo Hoo - would that all the jobs were that easy, course then we wouldn't have anything to talk about. I guess we have to say: "stop it like you stole it" grin

Having all new parts really helped. Even the brake springs are all pretty red and green and the rubber plugs were nice and firm. The adjuster looked like it had never seen a screwdriver.
If the weather holds out I'll get a chance to "stop it like I
stole it" at Carolina Motor Sports track on some spirited
laps next weekend.

WOW, your rear brakes DEFINATLY had a problem. Look at your avatar, looks like only the front were working and the car got scrunched up !!!!

This is easily fix, just tighen the rear alittle more than needed and repeat the stop.

The cookie jar avatar comes and goes. It was there this morning but it seems it's gone this afternoon. The cookie jar was a Christmas gift from the previous owner. Great SoCal guy.
