can anyone tell me how to test a fuel tank float? Either the gauge is defective or the float. I'm trying to narrow it down and not just buy them both. There is current in the line to the float.

Robert--

Pull the float assembly out of the tank and conect an ohmmeter across the contacts. I believe the resistance should be from 9 to 90 ohms as you swing the arm through its range.

If you ground the sending unit wire to the chassis, you should see "full" on the gauge. That's another way to narrow it down.
