hello, just replaced the cooling hoses on my 67 XKE, and noticed the electric fan (lucas), did not run. Took it apart, seems the brushes are worn out, anyone have a source for these? I would rather replace them vs buying a new fan. HELP!

Have you tried an electrical rebuild shop? Some local shops rebuild starters, altenators and other electrical items and might have something comparable for the fans. Or a Grainger store ( sells a lot of electrical equipment and parts). Take brushes in and let them see what they can do.

even a Vacuum Cleaner repair shop might have similar brushes. Brushes are brushes are brushes. Yes you'll have to do some searching, but chances are you wil find them. Definitely, don't buy a new fan if yours is good.

hey I just remembered I have a brand new Oreck small vacuum cleaner motor, (unused), and the vacuum broke so I threw it away. It has brand new brushes. If you can post a picture of your brushes I'll compare with the ones I have in the Oreck motor.

Thanks everyone for the advice, I ended up at my local hardware store and in the plastic, yellow Jandoff boxes bought a pair of brushes that were close, but needed to be sanded and have two slots on either side (used a hacksaw blade), took a bit of work, but in the end, they worked out fine.

Ace hardware sells ones that fit. Or any auto electric shop should have them.
