Have been fighting what I thought were carb problems for months. Finally she quit all together. Spark was there but did not look quite right. Couldin't decide between the coil and the pertronix. The distributor had just been re-built. Lucas sport coil was cheeper than a second pertronix. Went for it and then discovered oil comming from my old period coil. New one did the trick and all the "thought to be" carb problems went away.

Ninety per cent of carburetor problems are ignition problems.

AH100M,

Isn't it also true that 64% of all statistics are made up? LOL

I would agree with 72% of that.

However (and knowing the ignition/carb issues), I fought a British idle issue for almost a year, getting it better, but not quite right.

Finally, backed one of the pilot jets out a smidge (to allow more fuel past), and presto!

Took my trusty pin-vise and numbered drill bits, went from a .018 to about a .022 and my idle mixtures work, idle is smooth, part-throttle nibble is gone!

I kept figuring the Lucas distributor.
