Nature abhors a vacuum... but not NEARLY as much as the average idiot driver abhors that two-second "hole" between sensible folks on the highways. And when you're in one-a them li'l furrin jobbies th' lack of respect and disregard of physics increases exponentially.

Six inches front? *check*
Six inches rear? *check*
Slew in and cross three lanes to exit!
Stoopid furrin JUNK.

I keep sayin' I'll re-mount th' TURRET on Diesela one day. devil

How do they expect anybody to respect the law when they don't? All of our states facing budget crunches could go a long way to curing those ills by enforcing the laws already on the books. Solid line violations and lack of directionals alone are things I see every day as I call on my customers throughout the northeast. Every time I see one of those violations I think there's another $50 that the state could put to good use and not to minimize it but we'd all be a heck of a lot safer if the rules of the road were followed. I made the suggestion to my state senator and governor last fall, still waiting.................
Glad to hear you're safe and sound Brian, it's a risk I remind myself of before going out of the drive way no matter what I'm driving.
Mike

Well...I learned a long time ago (I won’t go into how I learned) when a police officer pulls you over all you say is "Yes, sir", "I'm Sorry, sir", "I wont do it again, sir", “Thank you, sir”. Anyway I have no doubt he could have written me up for something like ‘Verbal assault of an on duty police officer’ and the fact I didn’t know he was a police officer wouldn’t have helped. It is illegal to use abusive language to an on duty police officer and my guess is the courts would side with the officer. Besides who really needs to bring that kind of aggravation down on their head? I for one don't.

Mind you, I am not criticizing you for how you handled it - I would have handled it the same way. However, if cited, I would have fought the ticket to the best of my ability. I would have hired a lawyer and I would have made that officer appear in court to explain his actions in front of a judge.

And he would have told the judge that he made a normal left turn with plenty of room, and that you appeared to be acting erratically and interfered with his doing his duty. Your word against his ... who do you think the judge will believe?

If you believe in our justice system, the person telling the truth will prevail. Plus, requiring a court appearance just might make that officer think twice before issuing an unwarranted ticket the next time.

I am a supporter of our law enforcement officers - I also expect them to be beyond reproach.

Somehow Don, I don't think that selling my TR6 will bring me sufficient funds to get a "like condition" 1962 Corvette roadster, so like it or not, you're all stuck with me for the duration.

I understand what you’re saying TR4A_IRS, I was upset, but having had my web developer position of 12 years recently outsourced to india and finding myself unemployed I’m not really in the financial position to hire a lawyer (or much else). On the upside I do have plenty of free time to drive around during the day. I just got to watch all those other drivers that think I have a target on my car so I don’t end up like Brian.

You think drivers in the Northeast are bad, come down to TX. I'll take driving on the NY Thruway down to the Deegan to the the Cross Bronx the day before Thanksgiving anytime over rush hour in Austin. Truly scary driving down here. As for the cops giving "warnings", my wife's an ex-cop and was outraged when she heard the undercover story. Here in TX part of the job is getting cursed at. Of course, there's always the time I got pulled over for speeding, was told if I had $50 I could go free. I told him I wasn't speeding, and to speak up so the camera microphone would get it clearly. We were making a fun movie, and when I was getting pulled over for speeding I was doing 47 in a 45. The look on the cop's face was priceless. Then 17 years later the cop finally gets kicked out of the department for corruption. My complaint fell on deaf ears, even with the tape. I was just some kid in his early 20's with a Triumph...
