Heard a bit of a scraping sound from the backend. I aborted my morning commute until I can investigate. Rolling slow and I hear a scraping type noise. U-joint? Maybe I drove over something and its stuck on the drive shaft...... Differential was drained and refilled 2,000 miles ago.

Forget it, that can't be fixed. You need a new Midget. I need a "back up Midget". One to tie me over in case the main one goes a day or two without being roadworthy. Yes, I see your point exactly.....good call.

Sounds plausible, I was on a dirt road not long ago. I'll look it over tonight.

I can't see anything wrong. Jacked up the rear and spun the wheels, nothing. Pumped in a bit more oil in the differential but at very low speed, in 1st (can't detect in reverse) you hear this slow "scrape" in revolutions, like an engine turning over VERY slowly. It matches the ground speed. Can't detect at normal speeds. I guess I'll just monitor it and drive on. BTW rear bearing were renewed last year in rear hub rebuild, not that one isn't failing I guess.

pulled drum, looks fine. I did notice that the "dust cover" the part right in front of #28 here: http://www.mossmotors.com/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=29295&SortOrder=31is loose, maybe it let crud in and wrecked the bearing
