I'm putting the final touches on my engine compartment and currently use a distributor cap that I'm pleased with. I think it's a German manufacture with nice brass/bronze internal metal fittings. The problem is it's not even close to original, being brown bakelite, no "Lucas" on top. I'll keep it as my daily driver, but does anyone know of a period-authentic cap that also happens to be really well made? Most of what I've seen looks pretty slim in the quality department. Thanks,
-Tom

Well you about summed up the situation. However, there are some options left:
NOS Caps may be available from:
E-Bay, British Car specialties, Sports and Classics.

Is your cap a side entry or a top entry???----Keoke

Keoke: Mine is a side entry. I saw a NOS on ebay but it looked pretty beat up so I passed. I'll check out the other sources, many thanks,

Dunno if they're still in business, but I got one for about $40 a few years back from Hemphill's Healey Haven: 1-800-9-Healey

FWIW, I won't use anything but a NOS distributor cap. The aftermarket brands--even Bosch--tend to 'leak' spark, and my Pertronix Ignitor fits fine under the NOS.

bighly: I really appreciate the response, but about 5 days ago a fellow on e-bay was selling a few (3) NOS caps and they were perfect, truly unused and in the original boxes, so I bought all three. I should be set, but thanks again.
