I am planning to add a isolated accessory plug to plug in a Navigator or Radar Detector or Phone recharger. While looking around where to put it, I discovered there was one in the bottom of my heater box. I assume somebody added that, right? Was there any factory installation? if so where?
This one is not connected nor would it work with my positive ground system.

Wow, that probably doubles the heater output. I know they were sold as optional equipment, but I've never seen one in the flesh. I doubt the factory would have installed them there though.

Hi TMK, the cigar lighter's location was never defined . However it was listed as an Option. I have seen predominantly located close to the car's ash tray on BJ8 cars I think this is the factory location if installed. In you case any location that is convenient could be used and an extra Brown or Purple wire be routed in to power it.--Fwiw--Keoke

As best I can recall, lighters were never installed from the factory in any of the several dozen Healeys I prepped when they came in from the port. ISTR that that was true for all of the LBC's, BMC, Leyland, Rootes, Triumph.
They all had to be installed by the dealer. Radios, too.

Thanks, Jim. My first car was a Volvo 122S (1963 2-Dr.). I traded it in on a 1961 TR3, then a 1966 MGB (which I turned into an SCCA EP racer in 1970-71)

I think you're leaving out a point Keoke....mothers do know about those fancy, flash "chick magnets" British sports cars...they have daughters and must protect them from those awful guys who own those cars.

Good thing my Mum won't see this, you'd get thumped about the head and shoulders with a large spanner for uttering words like that. My Mum can wrench with the best of them. smile
