My rebuilt 907 for my Jensen-Healey. Its been massaged a little:

2.2 cross-drill crank.
High compression pistons & head.
104 cams
Steel Turbo-Espirit flywheel.
HTD cam gears
Dellorto 45s- spec 10.
Stainless Valves.
Late style cam carriers
electronic ignition

+ Lotus/Toyota 5 speed gearbox

Hope to get it installed by the end of the month; and the car back on the road soon after....

oooh.... Very nice.

I'm doing something similar on my '74 Lotus Elite.

I acquired a 912 Motor (2.2 Liter) with the bell housing / Toyota gearbox.

Currently, It is totally disassembled and I'm slowly rebuilding it with JAE Light weight rods, Mahle 11:1 Custom Pistons, 104+ (105 racing type) cams, newer cam covers and electronic ignition.

The head is currently getting ported / polished rebuilt with oversize Esprits S4s and I should have them back in about a month or so.

Should be fun. I'm about done fabricating the transmission mounts.

My question is where did you get your cam gears? I've been looking, and haven't been able to find anything in the states - it's all import from england.

oooOOOoooOOooo.. very pretty. and similar to a build that I'm planning for my JH project.

What do you think of the cam gears? I've not seen them in person.

Why that flywheel? What's the weight difference?

And how much machining time was actually involved? I'm looking at a lot of serious machining time (one of the few things I can't do myself) and I'm curious about the number of hours you incurred.

When you get it done, please get it on a dyno!

Jody

I got my cam gears from the manufacturer Kent Cams here in the UK, I believe the part number was CA93, they did sets for HTD gears and also for the standard trapezoidal ones. I also had to get the other HTD gears, and Lotus Bits provided them, though I had to wait a little while for some to be available. I thought they were a little pricey, but that's normal for Lotus engine parts.

More details are on my website:

The gears are very nice looking, and I got to see them on another modified JH engine before I bought them, seemed to work just fine and the owner was well pleased with them. One minor point was that I had a set of proper timing marks added to them by my machinist to help when setting them up, I thought it odd not to have them as standard.

The steel flywheel is a lot lighter than the old iron one. My super-accurate (?) bathroom scales showed it weighed about 13 pounds. This was sourced from Lotus bits here in the UK and came as NOS so it was brand new and needed drilling for the pressure plate mounting lugs, thoug as I recall the bolt holes for that were already in place. Maybe because I used a Toyota plate the hole arrangement differed.

There was a lot of machine work involved. I had the cylinder liners replaced, everything balanced, etc. I don't know the hours of machine work involved (though I've got a umber written down somewhere), but it all came to a sizeable sum of £ & p when done.

But it is a work of art, and a beauty to admire....

I do plan on dyno'ing it when done. I feel I can reasonably hope for 200-220 HP....
