tahoe healey Obi Wan Registered: 08/09/02 Posts: 2316 Loc: South Lake Tahoe, CA	Boy, it doesn't pay to get cocky about a Healey. Everything was perfect after a wounderful long, weekend drive. Went to start her today and nothing with the switch but started pronto with the remote starter. What shall I check first? I'm thinking the either the switch or the wire from the switch to the regulator or the regulator itself. Of course I could be totally of base. Help!

TimK Silver Member Jedi Trainee Registered: 05/17/08 Posts: 316 Loc: Michigan	If you have a volt/ohm meter, using the ohm's setting, check the continuity of the switch (push button) when you push it. There should be no resistance (0 ohms). An open circuit (high resistance) indicates an open switch. Well lets see, how about hooking a volt meter from the Red/White wire on the Starter solenoid to ground then try the key do you see ~ 12 volts showing but no start. tahoe healey Obi Wan Registered: 08/09/02 Posts: 2316 Loc: South Lake Tahoe, CA	TimK, I'm not sure where you are indicating the probes should be placed. It is a BJ8 with a key start. ( turn key,no push button) Are you saying to connect to post 3 and 1 on the wire diagram? Keoke, are you thinking it is the starter selenoid? If it is the selenoid, why would it start when I push the putton on the selenoid? The button would by pass the regulator and run power direct to the starter moter. Can I put the probe on post 1 and ground on the starter switch? I am challenged when it comes to electrical stuff but I can follow diagrams well. I'm not educated with ohm meters although I have 3.

On the solenoid @ TDC is a small terminal with a Red/White wire attached, put the meter probe on there. The button would by pass the regulator and run power direct to the starter moter. Can I put the probe on post 1 and ground on the starter switch? I am challenged when it comes to electrical stuff but I can follow diagrams well. I'm not educated with ohm meters although I have 3. If the engine ran using the solenoid, the ignition switch has power running through it to the coil. Maybe your spirited drive caused something to shake loose. Check that red/white wire. _________________________
