I just snapped off one of the long headbolts on my 1098. Anyone have any lying around? It snapped at 50 ft pounds. I need to extract the broken stud and change the head gasket since I don't want to take the chance of a leak now. What recommendations on the head gasket? I'm thinking a Payen. Any tips or helpful words from anyone who had gone through this before?? I would have to do this on the first of May instead of the first of November when I would have all winter to fix it.

Why is the number 45 ft lbs in my mind? Are they supposed to go to 50?

Are they the same as the 1275 head studs?

You should be able toremove the rocker shaft, extract the broken stud, and re-install the rocker shaft. Loosen the remaining head studs and retorque all. If the head isn't moved, the gasket should still be tight and sealed. This is basicly what is done when the head is retorqued after a rebuild and break-in.

I'll see if I have any still laying around.
Maybe the ARP studs torque to 45 with motor oil as lube?
