I visited "Jay's Garage" yesterday and noticed that the next car to be featured will be a 1969 Lotus Elan on Feb 2. I don't think anyone here will be interested......but you never know! LOL

'69 was a "smog" car.... Zenith carbs.

Jay has 2 Elans, one blue, and one white, both covertibles.

He says one will remain stock, but the other might just get something special under the bonnet....

Wow, that's great! Jay really gets it. Can't wait to show that to some of my un-indoctrinated friends that I've tried to explain the Elan to. Maybe hearing it from Jay Leno they'll start to understand what I've tried to tell them.

That thing is CRISP!! Love th' snap-cracke-pop as he cranks it up, then pulls 'is boot out.

...now I gotta start plottin' some xolid axle scheme.

Oh! And he said production was around 3,000 cars. He must have meant series 4's. The 'offifcial' (as if THAT means anything) total Elan production was 12,244. Some say that's conservative.

And the S-3 would do 0-60 a bit faster than 7 seconds, too.

Did I mention we hate Jay?

That is a great feature. I like true restorations, but I really love a car that looks original, but with careful improvements to the drivetrain. They did a nice job building upon the strengths of the lotus, not completely making it a different vehicle.

Jay also has a MKI GT6 in his automotive harem, which of course proves beyond doubt that he has impeccable taste.

Here is a pic of Jay with my Elan. My father was in town for a visit so took him out for a drive in the hills and Leno chased me down on his motorcycle to have a look at my car. We chatted for a good 10-15 minutes about the car. My father was blown away LOL
