Are you going to use the MegaSquirt system? If so have you decided on a throttle body? I know that bike parts are popular in the UK, usually Suzuki due to cost and availability, but there is also a Ducati TB that is a good match too. I have gone 1/2 way and installed a MegaJolt ignition, the only real challange was fitting the Ford trigger wheel to the harmonic balancer, but in Europe you have more choices as well as trick VR sensor mounts too.

Once I get my 11 up and running, my next project is to go with dual TB's and the MegaSquirt since I am 1/2 way there already.

I will use a 1.75 SU throttle body, similar to this.



What are these European trigger wheels you speak of? And the trick VR sensor mount? I always considered my choices limited over here since the US has had pretty much mandatory FI since 1974 and we've had it since 1990.

Also you might want to go to the Westfield Sports Car Club website and do a search, there is a fellow named Bill Shrivington who is the UK expert on Megasquirt who is always answering questions. Most of there stuff is for the Ford Zetec and X-flow, but the suppliers will have what you need. There is a good thread active now on sources for throttle bodies and who to avoid! There is also a lot of info at the various UK Mini sites that will be more specific to the A-series. Try Minfinity, they have a lot of members with both MegaJolt and MegaSquirt.

Well Fred nailed it, his motor and carbs are next on the list, we uprated his MGB vintage race engine, Pauter rods, more CR (about 13.0 to 1) uprated valve springs and retainers and tricked out oversized valves. Then I'm building him a set of HS6 race carbs to fuel the beast with.

The next two engines on the slate are both MGB race motors, one for vintage basicly the same recipe as Fred's motor, and another for for a limited prep SCCA HP MGB. Then after the two B series motors, on to a 1275 for a Bugeye street car, nothing too fancy like Ray and Drew's, what I like to call a stage 1 engine. Also over the winter get one of my race customer LP SCCA 1275 race motor refreshed, and we're gather parts to build him a second race motor.

Mix in with that, SU carbs sets to build, head porting, race prep on cranks, rods, etc. and ole Hap is staying pretty busy, as always

Oh I want to take a moment to talk about Drew and Ray as customers, these are two great guys, they were both passionate about what they wanted, great to deal with, and two guys who love these little cars and this hobby, which always makes my job easier. The thing about this business is, you start off with customers and end up with friends. I want let them both to know I am honored for the priviledge to built thier engines. Running your own man bussiness can sometimes be a drag, yesterday for example I spent all day long doing books and paying bills, today I need to replace a hot water heater (we'll see if that happens :)) but projects like Drew and Ray's is what makes doing this worthwhile and fun.
