Hello everyone!

I signed up here to hopefully be able to answer some questions I have regarding a project of mine as well as share in everyone's interest of cars British.

I have begun a project which started out several years ago to build my own custom 50s style sports car. I will continue to share more later, but have a question for now.

For my project car I have come by a 3.8 engine and would like to know a bit more about it, specifically the head.

On the front of the head is stamped: 7D50595-8
On the rear of the head is stamped: GB552

As of yet I haven't been able to decern what this may have been out of so any help would be greatly appreciated.

The block is from a 1963 XKE, has triple Webers and runs VERY strong. I had it dynoed and it was making 309 bhp at the flywheel. It came out of a Knobbly Lister, but that doesn't say much as I know it isn't the original motor to the car.

Anyone with insight to further details will be kindly thanked.

Scott

Welcome...the Jaguar Forum might be able to help you with the engine...photos of the car in Other British Cars Forum might help also.

Well, one thing the head numbers suggests is that it is from a 8-to-1 compression engine.
