What should your oil pressure be at idle and when cruising at 2200 RPM?

Also, when I slow down and can sometimes get a whiff of a burning oil smell ... or so it seems? Does anyone get any smells like this from their cars. Maybe it's the carbs or something. I don't know.

This was a pretty good thread about halfway down the Healey forum list page...if you use the "search" feature, you'll find plenty more...

Burning oil

Tell me about it

My old girl needs a rebore

Can clear a pint inside 40 miles, yet not much blue smoke about when the engine is warm - bit of blue smoke when cold and always when putting the engine under a bit of pressure with the accelerator and can smell it when starting up from cold and travelling around 40 MPH until the engine is nice and warm.

When I first bought the car I had the original carb air cleaners on. The oil breather tube is connect6ed to the rear filter. Changed the filters to ram tubes and there is no such connection - as I am burning oil at a great rate, the crank case gets a little more pressurized than it should and as the breather tube was not connected there was a very noticable smell of burning oil in the cockpit, coming back from the engine bay. Since then I have added an aluminium tube to the rear ram using Lumiweld and recoupled the oil breather on to that - result no smell
