We Washingtonians are headed out of Missouri sometime this morning. We're gonna head up i-29 to I-90 turn left and go to the end of the road, then turn left again and head down I-5 in Seattle. Bill M. will stop at home in Renton and i'll proceed on to Kelso. He WON the greatest distance award at LotO by an official distance of NINE miles. (we knew going in he was gonna win it, as it's mapquest distance TO the event) But for the whole trip it'll even out since he came to my place LAST saturday....
Any suggestions as to which state has the BEST FIREWORKS along the route.. there's a little space left the "the red thing" and we're passin' thru some good states for 'em.
Oh, i won for best MK III SPRITE. it was the ONLY one of either MK III Sprite or MK II MIDGET in the show. !!?? !!... Heck fire, There are THREE 1966 Sprites at the Portland ABFM every year!

Bill & Bill, have a great and safe trip home!
It sounds as if you are looking to buy & travel with some FW. Be careful as the rules of each state are different.
I'm looking forward to hearing all about it after you guys get back! I hope you took some pictures!

While we in at LotO, i asked Kurt Apley where on the way home would be the best place to buy fireworks... he told me to take the Vermillion exit in South Dakota,..take highway 50 about 6 miles and look for a steel shell building..the guy seeling would be fanatic. only the best stuff.... we tried it... wehn we got there, there was a letter inviting us to dinner and offering a place to stay for the night!!!! toooo COOL... we took him up on it and were treated to SD hosiptality at its finest...SPRIDGITEERS come thru again......

Arrived in Kelso at about 3:30 am Tuesday night, Wednesday morning. Claiming a single day 21st Century Spridget driving record of 1165 miles from Gilette Wyoming to Kelso Washington, via Bellevue, Washington. .. Saw Bill M. pull off in Issaquah..
All's well car performed near flawlessly execpt for Altitude/Gasohol!.. full report later after my ears quit ringing and my body gives up on the shakes!.

Great news Bill - I hope you can find a nice Jacuzzi somewhere!
Wow - that's a lot of miles in a day! I guess you have a point about driving it in a Spridget.
I did drive Seattle to LA in one 24 hour period back in my youth in a 69 MGB-GT. That's a whole order of magnitude more comfortable though!
I drove Seattle to Anchorage via Fairbanks in one 3 day period. Same car. How far is that?
edit> I just google mapped it & found that was 2619 miles.
It was great to be once so young.

This is what the interior of the prize winning MK III Sprite from LotO looks like after a 2000 mile drive... thought those of you with trailers ought to see what can happen to YOUR car if you DRIVE it..

I'm here now. Trying to catch up with sleep, the yard, etc.
Wow what a trip. Long long way. I clam the prize as the oldest guy and couple there. Would not have missed it for the world but as of today I would not do it again. Too darn far too fast for old folks.
Boy did I learn some neat stuff about our little cars. Things in some cases that I would never have even thought to ask.
Had no problems either way with tow car or Miss Agatha. All's well that ends well.

All the rags around the shift can were to hold out the heat. Driving in 90 degree weather for over 8 hours gets the whole tunnel really HOT.. the shift stick was too hot to touch. Slim-jims provide fuel, ear-plugs help, but still leave your ears ringing for a couple of days....
Whew.. glad i did it, but never again!

I just found out why my knee kept cooking even after I disconnected the water hoses to the heater (which helped but didn't stop the heat). I found after I pulled out all of the carpeting to dry it that the rubber plug for filling the transmission was only partly plugged in! Once I fitted it properly the heat stopped! Only a week late. OK, I know my car doesn't have a proper interior, but I can still say that I'd rather drive my '70 Midget 500 miles than the Bugeye 100 miles.

Bill I think Barry did the same exact thing. He found a plug out that was heating up his cab.

Hello:
I'm a new member (last few days). I have an English White BE. sure looks like yours. I'm new to BE's and new to Forums, so I'm on a steep learning curve.
My BE runs well, looks good (not a show car, I drive her for the andrenalin.
Rear suspension is bad....feels like little red wagon going downhill way to fast and hitting cracks in the sidewalk.

By the way....I live in St. louis but couldn't make the Lake because we had a family (if you count in-laws) wedding in Colorado. Had to fly fish instead......too many in-laws, not enough fish.

LOL
Welcome.
Rear suspension. First check that all is tight then check shocks.
However, it is prob worn out bushings. Easy and cheep.
