Dash is in & wired! Windshield is on! New tonneau is on (and, boy, is it tight)! Interior is finished except for doors & cockpit surround!

I've got tomorrow to work on it, fly to wedding Thursday & return Sunday mid-day....then have Mon & Tues to work on it & leave for 12 hour drive to show "O-dark-30" Wednesday morning.

That's 3 days to finish it!

Now, here's my question....do I trim the windshield to body weatherstripping around the wiper? See photo below...

Absolutely stunning, Tony. I'm very disappointed that I won't get to see it in person.

On the wiper/weather strip issue -- by Bugeye has the weather strip just sitting on the wiper studs. It is not trimmed. No idea if that is original, but given the rest of the car it's certainly possible.

Tony,
I'm pretty sure that the gasket folds and that edge goes up under itself. Here is a picture of mine. Looks like you may have a bit extra on that one. Shouldn't need to trim it..

Can you roll the part that has the grey on it back underneath itself?

If I did, it'd leak....the grey is taclum powder I had on the string I used to pull the weatherstripping forward.

Tony,
I think there was a reason you had to use the string to pull it forward..I know, we went over this in the PM...not trying to repeat it, but just saw your post on the string.

JACK! Where are ya!? What's Ms Agatha look like!?

I've always used strings to pull new weatherstripping forward under windshields - it always wants to curl up on itself when its new.

& I don't think I've ever seen windshield weatherstripping folded back under itself.

I need to see photos of some other early cars with new weatherstripping.

Tony, I'll take a picture of my windshield tomorrow. I have a question. Is your top dash pad aluminum under the vinyl? I know on Sprites they are covered but have no padding.
Oh yeah, AWESOME!

Its aluminum...& that's one of the dfferences between the early Sprites & midgets...Midgets had covered cockpit surrounds, Sprites didn't...also Midgets had covered pads under hteir dashes, Sprites didn't. , we've gotta compare only the early flat windshields

Remember, we've gotta compare only the early flat windshields on cas with no vent windows...all the other windshields & their weatherstripping are different.

Sprites had covered trim. The MKII 1100's (mine) had vinyl covered thicker cockpit surrounds..and a crash pad on the lower edge of the dash.
The 948cc Midget and Sprite had bare aluminum, like a BE. The covered and thicker trim came with the disc brakes and 1098 engine.
These pieces are a BEAR to find..took me 14 months to find two small pieces. I'm starting to hoard them (found some at Carlisle) for my next MkII!

Probably right...I was just commenting on what I read in "The Original..."....think Midgets had the covered trim first & then Sprite got it.

The answer.

The rubber weatherstriping lays forward and just bumps up around the wiper pegs. Give it awile and it will laydown just fine. Do not cut it.

Tony, midgets started having the 'extras' about then..so they likely did come out with it first.
So I stand corrected on the gasket..sorry bout that!

Good luck with the rest of the assembly, you're almost there!

Very nice. Looks a lot like my '63. Now I know how the dash is supposed to look. Side moldings help the lines I think, I should think about putting some back on mine. My cockpit "cowling" is bare aluminum. Supposed to be something else eh? Got my tonneau fixed and a hefty order on the way from VB, hope to get the motor tranny back in and things squared away enough to get her back on the road in a week or so.

PS
Is that Tartan Red? I need some touch up but don't what color she was painted, sure looks like the same red I've got, correct for '63 I believe? Although I see some light blue under the engine bay flat black so I guess mine was Ice Blue originally.

PSS
My wiper pivots actually interfer with my hood, if I open it too far they hit.
PSSS
Is the grill supposed to be perfectly straight across the top? Mine has a slight wave in it on both sides, top. Almost symetrical. Was going to straighten tonight but stopped as I'm not sure it isn't supposed to be like that (highly doubt it!).
