Sprites had covered trim. The MKII 1100's (mine) had vinyl covered thicker cockpit surrounds..and a crash pad on the lower edge of the dash.
The 948cc Midget and Sprite had bare aluminum, like a BE. The covered and thicker trim came with the disc brakes and 1098 engine.
These pieces are a BEAR to find..took me 14 months to find two small pieces. I'm starting to hoard them (found some at Carlisle) for my next MkII!

Probably right...I was just commenting on what I read in "The Original..."....think Midgets had the covered trim first & then Sprite got it.

The answer.

The rubber weatherstriping lays forward and just bumps up around the wiper pegs. Give it awile and it will laydown just fine. Do not cut it.

Tony, midgets started having the 'extras' about then..so they likely did come out with it first.
So I stand corrected on the gasket..sorry bout that!

Good luck with the rest of the assembly, you're almost there!

Very nice. Looks a lot like my '63. Now I know how the dash is supposed to look. Side moldings help the lines I think, I should think about putting some back on mine. My cockpit "cowling" is bare aluminum. Supposed to be something else eh? Got my tonneau fixed and a hefty order on the way from VB, hope to get the motor tranny back in and things squared away enough to get her back on the road in a week or so.

PS
Is that Tartan Red? I need some touch up but don't what color she was painted, sure looks like the same red I've got, correct for '63 I believe? Although I see some light blue under the engine bay flat black so I guess mine was Ice Blue originally.

PSS
My wiper pivots actually interfer with my hood, if I open it too far they hit.
PSSS
Is the grill supposed to be perfectly straight across the top? Mine has a slight wave in it on both sides, top. Almost symetrical. Was going to straighten tonight but stopped as I'm not sure it isn't supposed to be like that (highly doubt it!).

Just run your thumb across it from time to time, it will straighten out.
