ive just finished putting my windshield
back together with the new glass and
seals....looks great!
but im not having much luck with the
windshield to car seal...
anybody know an easy way to install it?
also , will it shrink any? ........zimmmmy

Actually it should slide right in and will need to be cut to fit the appropiate length. Use some dish soap.

Seat one side, and then press the other in with a rounded dull tool. I use a plastic orange peeler.

Let me know how it goes, I'm about to do the same thing.

It works real easy if you take the side off of the windshield. Slides right in place. One person job. Trying to tug through little slot on the channel is a PITA.

A tip on reinstallation. Could not figure out how to hold windshield shims in place and put screws on at the same time and keep everything aligned. I cut a slot in the side of the windshield shim so it came come in once the screw is through the hole and everything is lined up. Screws in place, slip shims into place via slots cut into shim and you are good to go. Also if using two shims a little masking tape to keep alinged goes a long way in getting it back together easily.

think ill try trevors method first,
i really dont wanna take any screws
out for obvious reasons....

Why didn't you replace the seal while the side frame was off to replace the glass? or am I the only one on this list guilty of not preplanning the entire job.

It is a 10 minute job to tuck the seal into the groove one edge at a time. Honest. I've done two.

Zimmy, how did you trim the seal? Do you have any pictures?
I'm doing the same thing right now and don't know how long I should trim it.

One more thing, the seal on the side post, did you have any trouble with that? The one's I got from VB seem too big.

Joel, The side seals will likely be too tall. It appears to me that you do need to trim them once windshield is on the car. They need to fit up flush against the forward part of the door otherwise you'll have an air as well as water leak right there. A Spridget never leaks of course but you don't want to make it worse. Wait till top is on the car before trimming off the top.

There is a rivet / screw that fits inside the bottom of the side rubber about 1" up from the base to keep the side rubber from sliding up. Wondering if that is really needed or perhaps a little contact cement.

Windshiled shims, I don't even want to get started on the number of hands needed to hold two windshield shims and press down and feed bolts in. I ended up cutting a notch in the windshield side post shims so they could be installed once bolts were started. Nothch slides over both bolts, held in place by the bolts and then tighten down.
