My 1969 was originally equipped with a heater but the box, fan motor, inlet flange and tubing were missing when I bought it. I am gathering the parts for the heater but I don't know what type of inlet I should be looking for. Does anyone have a pix?

A description would be Ok, just something for me to go on in case I see one on Ebay or something. I'd like to get the right one.

You mean just a picture of the heater box & hose? Should be easy to see on most engine bay pictures... be aware, I think that the later versions (1500) have the inlet hose on the opposite side of the car.

No, I mean the inlet behind the grill. Mine is missing. There were changes over the years to that part before the 1969 MKIII model I have. I just want an idea what I am looking for.

It's hard to know what parts to look for when parts are missing and one is a newb to Midgets as I am. I have the resto book, I have searched the web for pix using Yahoo and Google image searches and I check Ebay daily. The heater box I bought is similar to 1969 but is earlier I believe because it has the metal snorkel with the flapper in it. I think 1969 had the flapper in the fan inlet? I don't have a fan or the behind the grill inlet yet.

It does not have to be correct because this car is a driver, but I want to make sure that the behind the grill inlet I get will fit.

Aaah! So the cutout in the sheet metal, that the lower end of the fresh air intake hose feeds to? Pretty sure it's 4" round?

Isn't it part of the nose cone assembly?

IT is part of the front valence. There is a cutover there bit I've never been able to figure out how the heater hose gets around the fender support brace. That runs directly in back of the opening in the valence.

I simply let the heater hose hang down into the airstream. Get good airflow at low speeds.

Your only missing a short 2" long 4" diameter tube with a flange.

Wait, I thought the long hose went through the inner splash panel & clamped onto that outer panel?

Right Tony, but I think he is missing the part the end of the hose slides over.

So, we have a guy from SoCal and another from Bama discussing installing their heater boxes - can I clarify, just how sympathetic should the rest of us be? wink
